DICA Outrigger Pads Going Strong 16 Years Later
Longevity is one of the many benefits DICA SafetyTech outrigger pads deliver every day to thousands of customers around the world. We recently received a note to that effect from Jerry Hayes, of Jerry Hayes Concrete Pumping Inc., in Lompoc, CA. He purchased a set of 4 D2424-2 outrigger pads, from DICA company founders Dick and Carolyn Koberg, during the World of Concrete show in 2000.
Those pads have been in service several days a week over the past 16 years, under a 36 meter concrete pump. They don’t look as new as the day they were purchased but they continue to deliver the same unbreakable load distribution they did their first day on the job. As Jerry shares in his note, “divide 16 years into the price of a set of DICA’s” and you find out they’re real money savers.

“Just to reflect on our conversation a few days back, I believe that the DICA plastic pads do a great job of supporting outrigger loads. I have used this pair of D24242 pads a few days a week for 16 years. They have been with this 36 meter concrete pump the entire time. This pump can produce as much as 20,000 lbs. on a particular outrigger. Most of the time I just throw them down without any additional cribbing. Winter time, on un-compacted damp soil, I will use dunnage under them. I’ve seen them warp a bit, but they always flex right back flat. I’ve purchased quite a few wood pads for other pumps in my fleet in the time of owning this one set of DICA pads. Divide 16 years into the price of a set of DICAs’, they’re real money savers.” – Jerry Hayes, Jerry Hayes Concrete Pumping Inc.
