Equip Employees with Ergonomic Solutions that Match their Job
According to an article in the August 2018 issue of Facility Safety Management, 40 percent of workers in construction, manufacturing and warehousing environments experience physical pain due to their job.
The article, Three Steps to an Ergonomic Workplace by Dr. Kevan Orvitz, reports, “The most effective way to ensure your workers are safe and free from physical pain…is to implement ergonomic programs.”
Orvitz recommends three steps:
- Evaluate and assess daily routines of various employees. Tracking employee health, injuries, attendance and job satisfaction provides additional insight.
- Next, equip employees with wellness solutions that match their work environment. Many of these solutions are designed to boost comfort and support. For example, anti-fatigue insoles reduce slips, trips and falls while increasing comfort.
- Third, develop a safety program that encourages cooperation, teamwork, and engagement. Incentives as reinforcement for positive contributions Incentives and rewards is one piece of that.
