New NCCCO Certification is Now Available for Concrete Pump Operators
The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (CCO) has launched a new certification program for operators of concrete pumps. CCO developed this concrete pump operator certification in response to requests from the industry so that concrete pump operators can follow the same increased safety benefits that other load handling equipment operators have seen through similar trainings.
The NCCCO certification program tests knowledge of operational concepts and industry standards, such as ASME B30.27: Material Placement Systems Safety Standard for Cableways, Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Hooks, Jacks, and Slings.
The six content domains covered by the test are:
- Conducting pre-trip planning
- Driving the truck
- Setting up pump
- Conducting placement operations
- Preparing pump for travel
- End-of-day operations
The new concrete pump operator certification program consists of a written examination only, and is available via computer-based testing (CBT) at approximately 400 PSI test centers across the country.

With the development of new certifications, it’s important to note that DICA products are commonly used as part of safe setup practices for concrete pump trucks, including SafetyTech and FiberTech Outrigger Pads and ProStack Cribbing Blocks.
