Lift & Move USA Benefits East Texas Students
Teachers and administrators from East Texas had high praise for the Lift & Move USA event hosted by BOSS Crane & Rigging and Bennett International on Oct. 16, in Longview, Texas.
About 340 students and 35 educators from more than 20 schools attended the event, which showcased career paths for specialized transportation, crane, rigging, and machinery moving operations.
“Our students truly benefited from the event, which reinforced how we should be approaching students seeking alternatives to the ‘traditional’ college route. On the bus ride back and again the next morning, our students were still talking about the exhibits and career ideas,” said David Chatterton Sr., Assistant Principal, Union Grove High School, Gladewater, Texas.
The Longview, Texas event will be followed by one in Houston, hosted by Liebherr USA on Nov. 7, at which more than 700 students are expected. “The crane, rigging and transportation community has turned out in full force to support these two events,” said Tracy Bennett, Lift & Move USA Director. “These events would not be possible without the support of SC&RA members with their equipment and subject matter expertise.” DICA supports Lift & Move USA as a sponsor and outrigger pad provider.
Financial and Training Grants available through the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Foundation are earmarked for individuals seeking to obtain skills to advance their career or who are interested in working in the specialized transportation or crane and rigging industry.
