ITI & Barnhart Crane and Rigging Expo
More than 150 personnel from construction, heavy industry, and manufacturing sectors recently joined together in Memphis, Tenn., to get practical instruction on rigging techniques. Participants experienced 12 Training Stations featuring Barnhart Crane & Rigging lifting innovations and ITI Training modules for rigging, during the inaugural Crane & Rigging Expo.
More than 150 personnel from construction, heavy industry, and manufacturing sectors attended the inaugural ITI and Barnhart Crane and Rigging Expo.ITI’s Training Center on the campus of Barnhart Crane and Rigging’s Memphis Branch was the location for hands-on workshop sessions and equipment demonstrations.
Sessions led by ITI and Barnhart personnel included:
- Overhead Crane Load Handling
- Chain Hoist & Drifting
- Mobile Crane Lifting with Load Nests
- Wincing with Rollers Up an Incline Plane
- Hydraulic Skidding & Jacking
- SPMT Obstacle Course
- Hydraulic Tip Stick
- Pull-Up Gantry Systems
- Adjustable Cantilever Beams
- Powered Saddle Rollers
Kerry Koberg, DICA’s business development manager, also participated in training and was available to discuss DICA’s methods for the sizing and safe use of outrigger pads.
Participants experienced 12 Training Stations featuring Barnhart Crane & Rigging lifting innovations and ITI Training modules for rigging.In addition, the Electric Power Research Institute’s (EPRI) Hoisting, Rigging, and Crane User Group (HRCUG) held their annual meeting at the ITI and Barnhart Crane & Rigging Expo.
The EPRI HRCUG provides a forum for the exchange of information on:
- Lifting and rigging practices
- Crane operation and maintenance
- Material handling equipment and activities
EPRI HRCUG seeks to improve the technical expertise of plant personnel responsible for rigging, lifting, crane usage and maintenance, and materials handling. Attendees of the 2016 group meeting had the objective of providing the latest technical and regulatory issues for the crane, lifting and rigging, and material handling contacts in nuclear plants.
