2016 SC&RA Annual Conference Highlights
DICA’s own Kerry Koberg joined crane industry professionals on stage in what has become a highlight of the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association’s annual conference, the Acoustic Alchemy guitar reception. The band consists of industry professionals Eddy Kitchen of Kitchen’s Crane & Equipment and Alvaro Rodriguez of MPE Group. The SC&RA Annual Conference was held in Orlando, Fla., April 26-30, 2016.
Kerry Koberg of DICA joined Acoustic Alchemy at the SC&RA annual conference guitar reception.“From start to finish, the SC&RA Annual Conference is the premier event in the crane industry,” said Kerry Koberg. “Special thanks to Eddy and Alvaro for allowing me to join Acoustic Alchemy on Friday night. I was supposed to do a 30 minute set, but ended up staying on to play the rest of the evening.” Kerry, who is DICA’s Business Development Manager, played guitar and performed songs ranging from Johnny Cash to the Eagles.

It was fun discovering the hidden musical talents of other industry professionals. Turns out Earl Johnson III of Southern Crane, and one of DICA’s customers, is an amazing drummer and singer.”
The meeting was more than just relaxing and jamming, though. Committees report on labor and safety issues, while education sessions and the Products Fair provide opportunities to learn. One of the most interesting aspects of the conference is the annual Rigging Jobs of the Year competition. Four companies out of eight were recognized for projects that ranged from $150,000 to over $2 million.
SC&RA next meets for its Crane & Rigging Workshop, Sept. 21-23 in National Harbor, Md.
Reports on labor and safety issues, education sessions and rigging jobs of they year highlighted the annual conference.
